Angela is a Syrian-Belgian Film Composer and Pianist resides in the vibrant city of Berlin. Her interest in combining Arabic music characteristics with modern harmonies, extended techniques and electronics, shapes her piano style. As a film composer, she thrives on crafting compelling musical narratives across a spectrum of genres.
Angela made her debut together with the Osnabrücker Symphonieorchester under the baton of Daniel Inbal for the premier of her composition ‘Suite for Piano and Orchestra’ at the finale of the Morgenland Festival 2022 in Osnabrück. She performed in numerous jazz, classical, fusion festivals and concerts such as ‘Music in the Ancient Ears’ in Alula, Saudi Arabia, with her band Ramal Ensemble at Pierre Boulez Saal, Kühlhaus in Berlin, at the Berliner Philharmonie, Dubai Opera House, and in festivals such as ‘Arabic Music Days’ at the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin with renown names like Naseer Shamma.
Her aspiration to convey the essence of Arabic Music, advocating elements of various techniques and different genres, will be perused in her first album for solo Piano supported by ‘Arab Fund for Arts and Culture’ and ‘NeuStart Kultur’.
Angela’s learning journey has been shaped by respected mentors including Daniel Barenboim, Andreas Schiff, Alexander Vitlin, Emanuel Krasovsky, and Michael Wendeberg where she completed her Bachelor and Artist Diploma in Classical Piano at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin.
Furthermore, she Completed an online course in Jazz Improvisation with renowned Vibraphonist Gary Burton, from Berklee College of Music, enhancing skills in musical language and performance.
Angela completed her Master’s studies in Film Music Composition at the renown Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf under the guidance of award winning film composers such as Ulrich Reuter and Karim Sebastian Elias.
Notably, having the unique advantage of working and recording with Babelsberg Film Orchestra. Furthermore, she has embraced invaluable opportunities to enrich her skills through engaging in many master classes, one led by the Oscar-winning composer Volker Bertelmann, as well as Dascha Dauenhauer and John Gürtler.
She scored many films produced by RBB, ZDF, 3sat and Film University Babelsberg and was nominated in many festival such as Max Ophüls Preis in Saarbrücken.
on March 2024, Angela joined Ramal Ensemble: a project that blends traditional oriental music with innovative musical experiments.
